Olaf Thiede

Olaf Thiede (* 1957 in Leipzig ), lives in Potsdam - Babelsberg , is a painter and graphic artist from Potsdam, whose work has been exhibited in the Brandenburg State Chancellery and in the entrance area of ​​the Lord Mayor of the state capital Potsdam. His father is the German actor and director Erich Thiede.

Life

From 1973 to 1975 Thiede completed an apprenticeship as a handwriter at the Berlin-Schöneweide printing house. From 1979 to 1982 graphic studies at the technical school for advertising and design Berlin-Schöneweide. From 1982 to 1987 he was a graphic designer in the trade advertising in Potsdam, from 1987 to 1989 graphic designer at the Interhotel Potsdam . Since 1989 freelance painter and commercial artist, book author and book illustrator. His pictures of the Märkische Landscapes and the Havelland, drawn with pastel chalk, are significant. From 1996 to 2006 Olaf Thiede was the organizer of the exhibition series "Havelländische Malerkolonie Caputh / Ferch".

In 2007, as a joint work with the garden historian Dr. Jörg Wacker "Chronology of Potsdam and the surrounding area", a three-volume compilation of historical facts. In 2014 he published the books "The Havel - From the Source to the Mouth" as author and editor and in 2018 "Potsdam in Sight - Baroque visual relationships in Potsdam's inner city".

From July 2nd to 10th, 2016, a personal exhibition took place in the Saarmund Church on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Saarmund.
