Oldřich Hanč

Oldřich Hanč (born March 22, 1915 in Pilsen , † 1989 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak speed skater, pharmacologist and biochemist.

Life

Hanč was several times Czech champion in speed skating and participant in the Olympic Winter Games in 1936. He placed there 32nd in speed skating over 500 m. Hanč was a brother of the poet Jan Hanč and an honorary member of the Czech Society for Chemistry and the Czech Academy of Sciences . Hanč grew up in Pilsen and Prague. After studying biochemistry and some publications on the biosynthesis of steroids , he worked as the scientific head of the research department of the shoe manufacturer Bata .
