from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Old Fincastle House is a manor house near the Scottish village of Blair Atholl in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

It is the seat of a laird , which was probably built in 1640. Further details on falls indicate the years 1702 and 1807, in which revisions or extensions may be carried out. The years 1751 and 1754, however, are wedding dates.

Old Fincastle House is isolated in a sparsely populated region around 2.5 kilometers south of Blair Atholl near Loch Tummel . The masonry of the two-story building is made of quarry stone . Its north-facing main facade is almost symmetrical and six axes wide. On the ground floor there are five windows next to the entrance door, while there are six windows on the upper floor. On the southwest side there is a one-story wing. The interior is of high quality. The salon with its wood paneling is particularly noteworthy. The work dates from the early 18th century.
