The Old Oak Hotel Mangonui is the name of a listed building from New Zealand's early Victorian colonial days. The house, built around 1861, is located at 66 Waterfront Drive, Mangonui , on the south-eastern edge of Doubtless Bay in the Far North District in the Northland region on the North Island of New Zealand .

history

Originally the name was Mangonui Hotel. In around 1909 the hotel building was modified for the first time and the name was changed to Old Oak Hotel in 1910. In the years that followed, the hotel building served as a guesthouse, private house, butcher's shop, restaurant, art workshop and then again as a hotel. In the 1970s and then again in the 1980s, it was mainly modernized internally. In 2009 the hotel was completely restored and equipped with modern comfort. Today it is a comfortable boutique hotel; the annex on the left is a boutique restaurant.

Cultural monument

The Old Oak Hotel in Mangonui was registered on November 25, 1982 by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust under number 451 as "Historic Place Category II".
