Old Place of Monreith is isolated around four kilometers east of Port William. The three-story structure consists of an elongated building with wings extending from both sides, and thus has an unusual floor plan for a tower house. However, it originally had an L-shaped floor plan that was expanded over the centuries. The details that were largely lost in the course of the renovation in the 19th century include the entrance portal in the inner corner of the building as well as parts of the final reinforcement. The quarry stone masonry was plastered with Harl , which means that many details are no longer visible today. Doors and windows are all newer.
