Olga Menchik

Olga Menchik Rubery (born February 16, 1908 in Moscow , † June 27, 1944 in London ), before the marriage of Olga Menčíková , was a Czech-British chess master .

Life

Menchik was Vera Menchik's younger sister . She took part twice in the women's world chess championship : in 1935 she reached fourth place out of ten participants and in 1937 she shared 17th to 20th place among 26 participants.

Menchik was married to the British Clifford Glanville Rubery. She became a civilian victim of World War II when she was killed together with her mother and sister of the same name on June 27, 1944 in a German V1 rocket attack.
