Olga Rodríguez Francisco (* 1975 in León ) is a Spanish journalist . She is co-founder of the Spanish online news eldiario.es .

Life

Rodríguez graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid and the National Distance University (UNED).

In 2003 she reported on the war in Iraq . She was at the Palestine Hotel during the deaths of José Couso and Taras Protsyuk, a Spanish and a Ukrainian cameraman, who were both killed in Baghdad by US rocket fire. She reported from the Palestinian territories , Afghanistan and Syria and wrote about the Afghan, Iraqi and Syrian refugee crisis . In 2011, Rodríguez reported on the Arab Spring in Egypt .

At eldiario.es she was responsible for the human rights department and worked as an assistant for the management of the company.

She also works for other media such as Cadena SER , CNN + , Cuatro Publico, El Pais , Periodismo Rumano and RNE. Instead of talking about armed conflict, she says she would prefer to work as a peace correspondent. However, she would have dedicated her life to dedicated journalism. It reports realistically how people live in crisis and conflict areas and have to fight for survival.

In 2018, she received the Pimentel Fonseca Award in Italy for her work in defense of human rights.
