Olya Ivanjicki

Olja Ivanjicki (* 1931 in Pančevo ; † June 24, 2009 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav and Serbian painter .

Life

Olja (Olga) Ivanjicki, child of Russian immigrants, studied sculpture and painting with Sreten Stojanović at the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts until 1957 . In 1959 she was together with painters, architects, poets, philosophers and musicians such as Leonid Šejka, Milić od Mačve, Milovan Vidak, Svetozar Samurović, Kosta Bradić and Siniša Vuković, founder of the avant-garde group "Mediala", which was involved in the then ruling socialist cultural policy Yugoslavia came into conflict.

During stays abroad in the United States, Italy, France, Spain and England, she dealt with Pop Art in 1962 as part of a grant from the Ford Foundation in the USA , which can be found in her later works. In Serbia she was considered the most famous painter of the 20th century. Her works are represented in several international collections; she has had nearly 100 solo exhibitions worldwide. Her work has been honored with several awards and recognitions, including the “Sedmojulsku Prize” and the “Vukova nagrada” for her life's work.
