Olnigg

Dieter Henke , better known as Olnigg is the most famous German MMORPG - satirist . Together with his brother Günter (aka. TalkMan) he first became known within the German Internet community through appearances in the game Ultima Online , especially through Günter Henke's "Talkhouse" forum, which still exists in a slightly modified version to this day.

The name "Olnigg" is derived from the English words "Old" and "Niggle", which then means something like "old nag".

He celebrated his breakthrough on August 1, 1998 with the first issue of "Bilgg", his electronic satirical magazine. While the first issues of the magazine were exclusively about Ultima Online, it later also focused on many other MMORPGs (including EverQuest , Anarchy Online and Asheron's Call 2 ).

Issue 68 of May 8, 2002 sealed the end of Bilgg, because now the magazine was given the pseudonym of its creator: Olnigg. However, this did not affect the success. On the contrary, the fan base is growing steadily to this day.

The last highlight for the time being was the publication of his book “ Olnigg and the Bytebullen ” on June 29, 2004, in which Dieter Henke pokes fun at people's behavior on the Internet using a fictional detective story. Each of the three storylines is based on one of the following topics: MMORPGs, Ebay and dating / eroticism on the Internet .

His second work " Olnigg im Demonstüberl " was published on May 9, 2005.

In October 2008, Olnigg stated on his homepage that he would not write any more for the time being “until the market will again produce new foods that are more pleasing to my eyes”.

The website has been offline since at least September 2019.
