At the Olympic Games in 1956 , the two-person kayak competition over 10,000 m for men was held on November 30th on Lake Wendouree in the Australian city of Ballarat .
A total of twelve teams of two from twelve nations took part. The Hungarians János Urányi and László Fábián won the race ahead of the Germans Fritz Briel and Theo Kleine and the Australians Dennis Green and Walter Brown .
