Olympic Village (Turin)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , there were three Olympic villages for the first time , offering space for a total of 5,000 people. The main village was in the city of Turin itself, another in Bardonecchia and the last in Sestriere . One advantage of this decentralized organization was the shorter travel times between the accommodation and the venues. In addition, the athletes were able to get used to the respective climate in which they had to compete. Basically there was the possibility to choose the accommodation in one of the three locations, which was very much welcomed by the athletes and associations.
