Xhelil Gjoni

Xhelil Gjoni (born November 3, 1936 ) is a former Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania (PPSh).

biography

As a functionary of the PPSh, he was the sponsor of the later state and prime minister Sali Berisha at the beginning of the 1960s , and in 1962 gave him a place at the University of Tirana .

Towards the end of the People's Republic of Albania and the collapse of communism , Gjoni became a member of the Politburo of the PPSh in July 1990 .

In addition, he was a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) in the twelfth legislative period between 1991 and 1992 as a member. During this time he was a member of the governing body of the Socialist Party of Albania (PS), the successor organization to the PPSh.

He also published his memoirs about his political experiences .

His son Ilir Gjoni was temporarily Minister of the Interior and Defense of Albania in the government of Prime Minister Ilir Meta .
