The term ombud ( old (west) Nordic / old Icelandic umboð "mandate, power of attorney", umboðmaðr "authorized representative") means intermediary, representative or authorized representative. At the beginning of the 19th century the Justitie-Ombudsman ( Swedish ) was derived from it, which represents the administrator or trustee of the judiciary .
