Research policy

In 1999, the German Research Foundation (DFG) created a three-person ombudsman under the name of the Ombudsman for Science , which is available nationwide for all scientists as a point of contact on questions of scientific integrity. The experience with the “gray area between error and deception ” after a year of existence was described as encouraging by the committee's spokesman, Hamburg law professor Hans-Heinrich Trute. After ten years, Deutschlandfunk reported on a conference in Hamburg that took stock.

Labor market policy

In Germany, following protests by IG Metall and the DGB, the federal government under Chancellor Gerhard Schröder set up an ombudsman. The members of this council were Christine Bergmann ( former Federal Minister for Family Affairs), Kurt Biedenkopf (former Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony) and Hermann Rappe (former chairman of the Chemical-Paper-Ceramics IG). This committee had the task of accompanying the implementation of Hartz IV in relation to unemployment benefit II and began its work on December 1, 2004. This episode ended in late July 2006 with the final report.

In Bielefeld early 2005 for the same topics and persons at the local consortium established a voluntary Ombudsrat. According to the website, this facility existed until 2009.
