Omega Healthcare Investors is a publicly traded real estate investment trust ( REIT ) operating in the United States and the United Kingdom in the health and care industries. The company invests in new construction and renovation of properties, which are then rented to third parties as senior citizens' homes, old people's homes, hospitals or care facilities. The managed properties also include medical and health centers as well as assisted living facilities. The company's portfolio currently includes 924 facilities managed by 67 different operators.

Omega Healthcare is traded on the NYSE under the symbol OHI with a market capitalization of $ 7.64 billion .

Company history

Omega Healthcare was founded in 1992. In the years that followed, the company acquired several competitors, including Health Equity Properties Incorporated in 1994 and Aviv REIT, Inc in 2014 .

On May 17, 2019, it was announced that Omega Healthcare Investores is acquiring competitor MedEquities Realty Trust for a purchase price of USD 600 million, consisting of shares and cash.
