Omer Goldman (2017)

Omer Goldman Granot (born March 4, 1989 in Ramat HaSharon , Israel ) is an Israeli activist and actress. She was a member of the Shministim movement and denied the 19-year-old to military service in the Israeli army . Because her father, Naftali Granot, was a senior member of the Mossad leadership , her case received international attention. She later became known as an actress, particularly for her role in the Israeli television series Shchuna .

life and work

Goldman grew up in Ramat Hasharon, an affluent suburb of Tel Aviv , and had a sheltered childhood. As a youth she began to campaign for Palestinian issues. A key experience for her was when, at the age of 16, she was shot at by Israeli soldiers with rubber bullets while visiting a Palestinian village . In 2008 she was one of 40 students who, in the tradition of the Shministim movement, publicly announced their refusal to do military service in a public letter to the government and justified them with human rights violations by the Israeli army in the occupied areas . In the fall of that year, Goldman had to serve an 18-day and a 10-day prison sentence for her conscientious objection. Goldman's case received special attention because her father, Naftali Granot, was an officer in the leadership of the Mossad.

Goldman has been an actress since 2013 and has appeared on several Israeli television series, including Shchuna , in which she played the female lead from 2014 to 2018, and Kfulim , a series loosely based on the murder of senior Hamas member Mahmud al-Mabhuh .
