OmniROM is on Android -based Open Source - Operating System ( Custom-ROM ) for smartphones , phablets and tablet computers .

history

After the founder of CyanogenMod started commercialization with the company CyanogenMod Inc in 2013, several developers turned away . Some of them (including Chainfire, XplodedWild and Dees_Troy, who also develop the SuperSU app, the Focal Camera app and leading TWRP Custom Recovery) started a new project under the leadership of Guillaume Lesniak alias Xplodwild. On October 16, 2013, Omni ROM was announced at the Big Android BBQ 2013. In June 2015, the project began with the release of nightly builds based on Android 5.1.1 and continued this work continuously over the following years. On December 31, 2017, the first builds based on Android 8.1 were released.

On March 26, 2020, the developers announced on their blog that they would publish weekly builds in which the free replica microG is integrated as an alternative to the proprietary Google libraries.

particularities

OmniROM offers a range of customization options such as OmniSwitch, multi-window mode, OpenDelta. The project publishes stable nightly builds weekly. By supporting signature spoofing , it is possible to use microG. Simple restriction of app permissions .
