The Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler airfield is a special airfield near the city of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . He is from the Luftsportverein Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler e. V. operated and mainly serves aviation. It is located about 3.5 km northeast of the city center, west of the federal highway 61 . The airfield has an airfield restaurant and cannot be reached directly by public transport.

history

After a test run from 1963 to 1965, a meadow on the Bengener Heide was used as a launch site for gliders from 1965 . In 1975 the airfield with a paved runway was built at this point. Today the space is approved for powered aircraft with an MTOW of up to two tons, helicopters , powered gliders , microlights , gliders and balloons .

use

In addition to being used as an airfield, the site is also used for events. Until 2017, the JetPower, the world's largest trade fair and model flight show for turbine-powered model aircraft, took place regularly at the airfield . Due to problems with official requirements, the event was moved to the Donauwörth-Genderkingen airfield .
