The Traben-Trarbach / Mont Royal (EDRM) airfield is located above the town of the same name on Mont Royal , which protrudes into a loop of the Moselle. The airfield, which is categorized as a commercial airfield, is used exclusively for recreational aviation. The 750 m long grass track lies in north-south direction on the ridge of the mountain.
The airfield was set up from 1956 to 1957 and has since been home to the aircraft of the German-American Glider Club. It is designed for gliders and light engine machines. A visit by a DC-3 caused considerable problems in 1958.
