The airfield Idar-Oberstein / Göttschied is since 1960 certified airfield . It is located north of the town of Idar-Oberstein between the district of Göttschied and the communities of Gerach and Hintertiefenbach at an altitude of 480 meters (1575 feet). The airfield is approved for aircraft up to a maximum weight of 2 tons, after prior approval (PPR) , aircraft up to 3700 kg can also be approved. The airfield is operated by the Aero Club Idar-Oberstein and is suitable for powered aircraft , helicopters , motor gliders , gliders , microlight aircraft and, also after prior registration (PPR), parachutists.

At the weekend, sightseeing flights in the areas of powered flight, powered gliding, gliding and ultralight flight are offered here.
