Omul cu Șobolani ( Romanian for “The Man with the Rats”, OCS for short ) is an alternative rock band from Romania .

biography

The band was founded in Constanța on August 1st, 1997 through the initiative of Dan Amariei and Adrian Albu (aka Koks). The name of the band was inspired by the book of the same name written by Sigmund Freud . After moving to Bucharest, the band was completed with Tache and Nucu. The band is slowly getting an identity and the doors in showbiz are opening for them. During this period the band was supported by Andrei Popa and Cezar Cojocariu. They provide them with a hall for rehearsals and professional instruments. The first recorded song was called "Fara adresa" (German: "Without address"), but this was never published. From here to the first demo it was just one more step. The demo tape contains four songs, was released by Migas Real Compact and was played in the formation: Dan (vocals), Nucu (guitar), Koks (guitar), Tache (bass) and Adi Subasu (drums). After the release of the demo tape, drummer Adi Subasu was replaced by Morse (Andrei Barbulescu).

The debut concert took place in 1998 in a club in Bucharest called Big Mamou. In this formation the old songs "Vara pe olita" and "Pasiune" were taken up again in better quality. But there are further changes. For unknown reasons, Tache, the bass player, left the band, and a short time later Morse, the drummer, left the band and continued his career with Sarmalele reci . The band experienced a resurgence with the entry of bassist Kaiser (Cezar Panait) and drummer Mihnea Dobrota.

Together with them the first video clip of the song “Vara pe Olita” is filmed. This song best reflects the band's ever-changing fortunes. Although the song was recorded with the dropped out members, their successors appear in the video clip. Under the given circumstances, the first EP was released in 1999, called “Razna” (German: “Crazy”). This is enjoying great success and OCS made many appearances in 2000. In 2001 the first LP of the band “Ne punem in cap” (German “We stand upside down”) was released. The most successful song on the album is "(Dec) orientat" (German: "orientierungs (los)"), whose video clip was filmed by Tudor Giurgiu. During this period the band is strengthened by the guitarist Adrian Stefan. OCS experienced new changes in 2002. The song “Mâinile sus!” (German: “Hands up!”), Composed by Nucu in 2001, also gives the name of the new album. However, he has to leave his colleagues for a year because he is drafting into the army. Under the circumstances, Koks moves back into the band. But there are also new surprises: bassist Kaiser becomes guitarist and guitarist Koks becomes bassist.

In 2004 the album "OCS TV" was released. This is the result of a collaboration of more than one and a half years. The songs “Ajutor” (German: “Help”) and “2oua beri goale” (German: “Two empty beer bottles”) are remarkable because they are broadcast on both specialty and some radio stations.

In 2005 the album "Best before 2005" is released. This includes the best songs in the group by the given time. In 2006 the single "Nu încerca aşa ceva acasă" (German: "Do not try something like that at home") appears. At the end of 2006 the fourth album "Superparanoia" will be released, with the first single "Depresie toamna / iarna 06/07" (German: "Herbst / Winter-Depression 06/07"), which also has a video clip.

In 2009 the album "Dansam legati la ochi cu spatele la zid" (German: "We dance blindfolded with our backs to the wall") will be released. OCS is one of the most successful Romanian bands in the alternative rock sector, which still appears on the most important stages in the country.
