On-U Sound Records is a British music label that is considered one of the most important European dub and reggae labels .
history
On-U Sound Records was founded in 1979/1980 by Adrian Sherwood and his then wife Kishi Yamamoto and their partners Pete Holdsworth, Lizard, Tony Phillips and Martin Harrison.
The first release was a 7 " split single by the bands New Age Steppers ( Fade Away ) and London Underground ( Learn A Language ).
In addition to the New Age Steppers, the most important artists included African Head Charge , Audio Active , Bim Sherman , Dub Syndicate , Gary Clail , Little Annie , Mark Stewart and the Maffia, Singers & Players and Tackhead .
