Onchan ( Manx Kione Droghad , literally: end of the bridge) is a village in the east of the Isle of Man and after Douglas the second largest settlement on the island.

history

In 1890 a Stone Age ax was found here, estimated to be around 5,000 years old. The place is associated with Kirk Coonachan, a church named after Bishop Coonachan (around 540). The local name (Kiondroghad) first appears in writing in 1643 and then again in 1841.

Stock car races are held annually in Onchan . In addition, the start and finish of the Clypse Course was located in the village, where races for the Isle of Man TT were held between 1954 and 1959 .
