Muhammad Shahid Nazir (* 1981 in Pattoki , Punjab , Pakistan ), known as the One Pound Fish Man (also spelled £ 1 Fish Man ), is a Pakistani fishmonger from London who is best known for his market chants.

Career

Nazir worked in the family transport company in his home country. On a student visa, he went to Great Britain, where he worked as a fish seller at Queen's Market in London . A passerby filmed Nazir while he was singing his fish and uploaded the video to the Internet platform YouTube in April 2012 . Since then it has been clicked about ten million times (as of January 1, 2013).

With his song One Pound Fish , he applied for the ninth season of the talent show The X Factor , but did not qualify for the boot camp . In November 2012 he received a recording contract from Warner Music and a Bollywood-style dance version of One Pound Fish was created . It was released on December 9th and reached number 28 on the UK charts by Christmas. Nazir himself had to return to his homeland on the holidays after his residence visa expired.
