The O-No or Nyubu-Ono , engl. Yamabushi-Ax is a battle ax from Japan.
description
The O-No is usually made of steel . It is single-edged and has a crescent-shaped, heavy blade that is attached to the shaft with the help of a square eye . On the opposite side of the blade, the ax is designed in the shape of a leaf. Approximately in the middle of the blade, on the eye, three deep and wide hollow cuts are made on each side, which serve to reduce the weight. A heart-shaped opening is cut out on the blade. The O-No was often used by the Yamabushi battle monks.
