Lists on the subject

The Fürbug (Engl.) Horse Peytral , ( span. ) Pechera O Petral , pectoral , Poitral , Poitrinal , is a piece of armor of a Ross the harness that protects the breast of the horse.

description

The interbows are usually made of steel . It is the foremost part of armor for horses and is made in such a way that it protects the entire chest area of the horse from blows and stings. It is attached to the rest of the horse's armor with leather straps or lapel clamps. On most of the interbows you can see strong bulges on the right and left, which serve to not restrict the horse's freedom of movement. These bulges are roughly level with the horse's shoulder joint and offer enough space for natural movement. In the manufacture of the Fürbug , as much emphasis was placed on the craftsmanship and material quality as the armor itself. There are versions that are very simple, but also splendid designs that are decorated with gilding , engravings , inlays and figurative representations . The intercourt is only found on horse armor that is built as plate armor . These armor parts were already in use by the Romans. A well-preserved copy is in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn (see link no. 2).
