history

Waarde Church

Until the introduction of the Reformation, the church bore the double patronage of Our Lady and James the Elder .

A three-aisled hall church with a transept was added to the preserved tower from the 14th century. In 1589 a fire severely damaged the church. As a result, the central nave, the north aisle and the adjoining transept arm were laid down and the arcades of the south aisle to the central nave were walled up. Only the south aisle, closed on three sides, with a transept form the current church space.

The parish belongs to the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands .
