from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Opas Engel is a picture story published in 2001 by Jutta Bauer .

action

A boy visits his old grandfather in the hospice . This tells him about his adventures. From the pictures, however, it appears that it was thanks to an angel that nothing worse ever happened to him. This protected him from cars, holes, thieves, aggressive animals, or falls. In World War II he also protects him from bombs and hunger.

Events of contemporary history are also addressed, the Third Reich , the persecution of the Jews , the war and the privations of the post-war period. The stages of a life from childhood to old age are revealed in just a few pictures. In the end, Grandpa gets tired and closes his eyes. His grandson goes out quietly and in view of the fact that the angel follows him, it can be assumed that the grandpa has died and the angel is now watching over the boy. The boy is playing in the sun and the grandfather's angel is now watching over him.
