The Bulletin Youth & Literature ( BJL ) was initially a specialist journal for children's and youth literature and reading promotion . It was published monthly, most recently by Neuland-Verlag , Geesthacht , with a print run of 1,800 copies, around 60 percent of which were bought by libraries and bookstores , the rest mainly by teachers and schools. The magazine was published from 1969 to 2011.

The BJL has been appearing as a supplement to Eselsohr magazine since 2012 .

content

Monthly main topics such as the Holocaust, the Olympics or fairy tales created a thematic connection and good comparison options between different books. A special element of the bulletin was the owl of the month awarded in every issue , with which the “most recommendable new publication” was awarded - each with a detailed explanation.

timeline

The owls of a year were occasionally presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair . The prize trophy was designed by a different artist each year, in 2006/2007 it was Antje von Stemm .

The magazine has not been published since August 2011. The publisher has filed for bankruptcy.

From 2012 the former bulletin Jugend & Literatur will appear quarterly as a journalistic supplement in the specialist journal Eselsohr .
