Tim Flannery

Tim Flannery, actually Timothy Fridjof Flannery (born January 28, 1956 in Melbourne ), is an Australian biologist and zoologist . He became known for his non-fiction books, which include The Future Eaters , The Feral Future and Throwim Way Leg . Among other things, he has dealt very critically with the impact of invasive neobiota on the Australian ecosystem.

Tim Flannery has held a number of important and in some cases also influential scientific positions. These include Principal Research Scientist at the Australian Museum , Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University and environmental consultant for the Australian Parliament. He was also director of the South Australian Museum .

For his book Wir Wettermacher , Tim Flannery received the international Corine Future Prize in 2006 as well as the Knowledge Book of the Year prize awarded by the magazine bild der Wissenschaft .

Tim Flannery was named Australian of the Year on January 25, 2007 and was appointed to the World Future Council as a councilor in May of that year .
