Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni (born August 13, 1968 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian musician and composer .

Life

During his school days Gibonni began performing with various bands from Split. The most famous band was Osmi Putnik . Between the ages of 16 and 19, he worked here as a singer and composer. During this time the band released three albums. When the band broke up he became a member of the heavy metal band Divlje Jagode , where he was nicknamed Gibonni by Zele Lipovača , the band's lead guitarist. He left the band and spent the years 1989 and 1990 in Berlin , as a member of the band V2 . During this time the album Out to lunch was created .

After returning to Split, he began his work as a composer. He composed a. a. Songs for Dino Dvornik , Oliver Dragojević and Tedi Spalato . In 1994 Oliver Dragojević was awarded the Porin for the song composed by Gibonni , in the categories Hit of the Year and Best Male Execution . The interpreter received the latter award again in 1995 and is the only musician who has been awarded for the same title in two different years.

His first album, Sa mnom ili bez mene , was released in 1991. On September 9, 2000, he produced the HTisdn Millennium Concert in cooperation with the Croatian Telecom (HT) . During this multimedia event, Gibonni performed live in Rijeka . At the same time, Vlatko Stefanovski , a guitarist from Yugoslavia, from Zagreb and Klapa Cambi from Split were also switched on live. The concert was broadcast on the internet .

Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni has been UNICEF's national ambassador for Croatia since July 9, 2003 .

His "Toleranca" tour, which he started in 2011, concluded with a performance in front of 10,000 spectators in the Pula amphitheater .
