Françoise Cactus (*  1964 in Villeneuve-l'Archevêque , Burgundy , France , bourgeois Françoise van Hove ) is a Franco-German author, musician and illustrator.

Life

Françoise Cactus grew up with three siblings in Villeneuve-l'Archevêque. She studied in Besançon , Paris and spent a year in Husum during her studies . In 1985 she met a Berliner in Norway, whom she followed to Berlin a short time later . There she moved in the squatter scene . She founded the band Lolitas and later with her partner Brezel Göring Stereo Total .

In addition to music, Françoise Cactus has also written several books and radio plays, and exhibited drawings and objects. One of their objects, called Wollita , a life-size crocheted doll, was shown in April 2004 by the tabloids Bild and BZ as evidence of a “child porn exhibition” in the Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien over 20 times over the course of two weeks. The theme of the exhibition, entitled “When Love Turns to Poison”, was dealing with the dark side of sexuality and the subject of sexual violence. In response to the media campaign, Françoise Cactus and Wolfgang Müller from Die Tödliche Doris wrote the book “Wollita - from ball of wool to superstar. Die Biographie ”, which appeared in October 2005 including a CD. The appeal “Wollita (18) must get the BZ culture award!” Was signed by over 250 artists and art educators.

Cactus and Brezel Göring are among the protagonists of the documentary “We will always go on” by George Lindt and Ingolf Rech, in which Berlin indie greats between 2000 and 2010 are portrayed.

Françoise Cactus describes himself as homeless . She appreciates Roger Vadim and his film Barbarella .

From 1986 to the mid-1990s she was a layout artist at taz .
