Opel track racing machine
The Opel track racer (1922) was designed only for cement track races and was equipped with water cooling , four valves per cylinder and magnesium - piston -the-art for its time structure. The chassis consisted of an unsprung monotube frame , which was reinforced at the front fork, and rolled on 28-inch wheels. The engine displacement was 198 cm³ and the power was given as 5 HP at 4400 rpm. Fritz von Opel took part in the Bavarian championship on September 24, 1922 with the racing motorcycle that had no brakes and took first place in the class up to 250 cm³ with the machine weighing only 70 kg.
