OpenAFS is an open source implementation of the Andrew File System (AFS) network protocol for distributed network file systems that is available for various operating systems. AFS was originally developed at Carnegie Mellon University , and later by IBM . On August 15, 2000, IBM announced its intention to release its implementation under the IBM Public License .
