The Ljubljana Opera House ( Slovenian : Ljubljanska opera ) is part of the Slovenian National Theater for Opera and Ballet, the national opera and ballet company of Slovenia .

The ensemble plays in the house of the Slovenian National Opera. In the theater, built in 1892, performances were performed in both Slovene and German until 1918.

Since 1918 the opera has been expanded to include its own orchestra and ballet. The conductor Mirko Polič performed the repertoire common in Europe as well as Slavic works such as the ballets by the Bulgarian composer Pantscho Wladigerow and the works of the Slovenian composer Marij Kogoj . The current repertoire includes works by Massenet , Rossini and Mozart , among others .

The Ballet of the Slovenian National Theater was founded in 1918 and has around 50 dancers.
