As Operating Thetan (OT), Scientology theory describes its goal of creating a spiritual being who, according to the assumption, “is not only free from any limitation of the physical universe, but can also create its own and new universe”.

There are currently eight OT levels which, with the exception of OT VIII , were developed and introduced by L. Ron Hubbard between 1966 and 1970 . OT VIII was written by him in the early 1980s and presented as New OT VIII on June 7, 1988 after his death (January 1986) . According to the so-called "Grade Chart" of Scientology, there are seven further OT levels, for which, however, there are no written instructions from Hubbard.

description

Scientology describes Operating Thetan (OT) as follows:

Operating Thetan (OT) is a spiritual state of being above Clear. Operating means: “able to act and deal with things”. And by thetan is meant the spiritual being, which is the basic self. An operating thetan is someone who can handle things without having to use a body or physical means.

stages

requirements

To be able to ascend to the level of OT within Scientology, a person must first have reached the level of Clear . According to L. Ron Hubbard, the original definition of clear is : A Thetan who can be at cause knowingly and at will over mental matter, energy, space and time. (German: a thetan who knowingly and willingly can be a cause of spiritual matter, energy, space and time. )

OT I

According to Scientology, the OT I stage is called "New OT I". OT I is the first step for people with Clear status to full OT skills. The current version of OT I was published in 1985.

OT II

According to Scientology, the OT II stage only bears the name "New OT II". Above all, OT II can be seen as preparation for the more demanding level OT III. The current version of OT II was published in 1966.

OT III

According to Scientology, level OT III is called "The Wall of Fire". OT III is interesting because this level explains the worldview of Scientology. Since the publication of OT III, Scientology has received a kind of “world rescue mandate” that was “given” 75 million years ago. Through OT III, the person concerned learns of the alleged existence of body thetans as described by Hubbard. These would explain the many physical and mental ailments of mankind and thus prevent people from reaching their highest spiritual levels. In OT III the person concerned should get rid of the body thetans. In this context, the story of Xenu is an integral part of OT III. The current version of OT III was released in 1967.

OT IV

According to Scientology, level OT IV bears the name "OT Drug Rundown". Although there should actually be no more body thetans after successfully completing OT III, you learn at this level that there are still body thetans. The current version of OT IV was published in 1980.

OT V

According to Scientology, Level V is called "Audited Dianetics of the New Era for OTs". In OT V, the Scientologists again expect a great many body thetans and clusters that adhere to his main thetan and the body. The body thetans on OT V are “unconscious”, have “slept” for 75 million years and must first be awakened by auditing before they can be audited and made to disappear. Auditing at this level is done with a professional auditor because the Pre OT does not have "sufficient mental strength" to confront the body thetans at this level without professional help. The current version of OT V was released in 1978.

OT VI

Level VI is named "New Era Hubbard Dianetics Solo Auditing Course for OTs," according to Scientology. The Scientologist receives training in OT VI to identify the body thetans from OT V. The current version of OT VI was published in 1980.

OT VII

Stage VII, according to Scientology, is called "Hubbard Solo Auditing of Dianetics of the New Era for OTs". The current version of OT VII was released in 1980.

OT VIII

Tier VIII is called "Truth Revealed" according to Scientology. The current version of OT VIII was released in 1988.

OT IX

According to Scientology, level IX is called "orders of magnitude". OT IX has not yet been released.

OT X

According to Scientology, level X is called "character". OT X has not yet been released.

OT XI

According to Scientology, level XI is called "operating". OT XI has not yet been released.

OT XII

According to Scientology, level XII is called "future". OT XII has not yet been released.

OT XIII

Stage XIII is probably called "Knowledge". OT XIII has not yet been released.

OT XIV

Tier XIV is likely called "Skill". OT XIV has not yet been released.

OT XV

Stage XV is probably called "Total Freedom". OT XV has not yet been released.

criticism

Several former Scientologists publicly accuse Scientology of pressuring Scientology members to take very expensive courses to reach the OT levels.
