The operation Jachin was an operation of the Mossad , where tens of thousands of Moroccan Jews in November 1961 to the spring of 1964 following Israel were brought.

history

The secret operation was also launched because of the ship disaster of January 10, 1961, in which the ship Egos sank with 44 Jewish refugees on the north coast of Morocco when they tried to leave the country on their own. Over 80,000 Jews left Morocco by plane or ship from Casablanca and Tangier via France and Italy to Israel.

The operation was named “Jachin” after the right pillar of the Jerusalem temple , which means “ I (God) will rise! "Or" I will straighten up! "

One of the refugees is the later Israeli minister for religious services, Jakob Margi .
