Operation Luz na Infância
In Operation Light in Childhood (officially Portuguese Operação Luz na Infância ), the Brazilian police dismantled a network for the distribution of child pornography in Brazil.
The operation
Phase 1
The first phase of Operation Luz na Infância was carried out in October 2017 with US authorities and ended with 112 arrests.
Phase 2
With the police operation "Luz na Infância", which the Minister for Public Security described as the largest police operation in the history of the country and the largest in the world, a network for the Smash internet child pornography distribution in Brazil.
More than a hundred people were arrested on Thursday in Brazil in a major operation against a network of child pornography on the Internet that the government has presented as the largest of its kind in the country's history. The coordinator of the operation, General Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz, also highlighted this dimension of the operation, led by the new Ministry of Public Security, as did the Minister of Public Security, Raul Jungmann , who was only appointed in February 2018 , who even said that “the largest in the world in just one day “against the sexual exploitation of children and pedophilia.
Around 2,600 police officers were deployed in 24 of the 26 Brazilian states and in the federal district to conduct 578 actions to collect and arrest files containing content relating to the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents .
In the course of the morning, the number rose from 132 arrests to 197, including teachers, officials and women, the authorities reported at a press conference in Brasília . A total of one million files with pedophile content were identified in this second phase of the "Luz na Infância" operation .
