The Nordfjordeid Opera House ( Norwegian Operahuset Nordfjordeid ) is an opera house in Nordfjordeid in the Norwegian municipality of Stad .

It is located in the northern part of Nordfjordeid at Sophus Lie-vegen 3 , on the right bank of the Presteelva stream .

history

The Opera Nordfjord Foundation was founded on November 30, 1998 on the initiative of Kari Standal Pavelich and Michael Pavelich . The first year Die Fledermaus was performed. It reached 150,000 visitors. The success of this opera project in the Norwegian province was the trigger for the construction of the opera house. The present opera house was completed on March 1st, 2009 and opened on April 25th, 2009 by the Norwegian Minister of Culture Trond Giske . The first opera performance showed a concert version of the opera Tyrfing by Johannes Haarklou from Førde .

In addition to opera performances, the house is also used for other forms of the performing arts. During the day, the building is used by the neighboring school, with which there is close cooperation.

Every autumn an ​​opera production celebrates its premiere.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited the Nordfjordeid Opera House on April 25, 2019 .

Furnishing

There is an opera and a cinema hall in the opera house. The opera hall can accommodate up to 534 guests (including 6 places for the disabled), 218 of which are in the gallery. If the orchestra pit is required, the number of seats is reduced to 488. The liftable orchestra pit has space for around 50 musicians. The stage measures 14 by 10 meters and is 12 meters high. The acoustics of the room are considered good and can be adjusted for the performance of works other than operas.

The cinema with a large screen has 106 seats, including six seats for the disabled. It can also be used for lectures and conferences.

In addition, there is a foyer with space for around 450 seats, which is used as a canteen for the neighboring school during the day.
