The Orden del Hacha , also known as Ordre de la Hache , the ladies of the ax or Order of the ladies of the ax , was a Spanish knightly order that consisted exclusively of women. The order is said to have been donated to the defenders of Tortosa by Count Raimund of Barcelona around 1149/1150 . It's just called the Order of the Ax .

The order was intended for women who showed themselves to be courageous defenders in the siege of Tortosa against the Moors . Her religious clothing was a long skirt of unknown color that was worn with a capuchin cap. An ax in carmine red was embroidered on it as a sign of the order.
