Order of Silence

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Order of Silence was founded in 1195 as a French knightly order. It was also called the Order of Cyprus and later the Order of the Sword . Guy von Lusignan is named as the founder . However, this was already a year dead at the Order Foundation, which is why the foundation date is doubtful. When the armies withdrew from Palestine, 300 order members, all so-called barons, are said to have been. The oath of the order consisted in the defense of the religion and the regent under strict silence of state affairs. All should follow the rules of Saint Blaise . The kings of Cyprus were in charge of the order.

With the capture of the island of Cyprus by the Turks , the end of the order was decided. The order's motto was : "Securitas regni", which means, for example, the security of the empire. The sign of the order was a gold sword pointing downwards with a black uppercase "S"
