Order of the White Cross

The Order of the White Cross was an order of merit in Tuscany . It was donated by the Grand Duke of Tuscany and Archduke of Austria Ferdinand III. The year of foundation was 1814. The occasion was the regaining of power over the Duchy of Tuscany, which had been lost in 1801 . The order of knights was important until the Kingdom of Italy . This order was also known as the Cross of Loyalty .

Order decoration

The order decoration consisted of a white cross that gave it its name. It was a silver eight-pointed cross (similar to a Maltese cross) with eight-pointed tips and silver lilies in the corners

Badge of honor

Two years later, Ferdinand III donated. Another badge of honor, which was given to deserving people as a "virtue price" for meritorious deeds. The award was a gold medal.
