Order of the Boot

The Order of the Boot had many names and, according to recent research, is not attributed to Venice , but to Austria . It was probably founded in 1332 (or 1400), first went out in 1380 and was renewed in 1532. The order was also called the Order of the Trousers , Orden de la Calca , Calaz Order , Compagia del floridi , Brotherhood of the Perpetuals , L 'Ordre della Chausse , L'Ordine della Calza and was established by a small number of Venetian nobles .

The admission fee was 50 ducats. It was compulsory to wear special clothing, especially red, purple and gray striped trousers, for a period of 20 days if there was a threat of a penalty of 100 ducats for offense. The official purpose of the order was pleasure, the real purpose is unknown.
