from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Henry of Wildenstein (* about 1330 , † 1409 ) was Bishop of Kruja , Trieste and Pedena .

Life

Heinrich von Wildenstein probably completed his theological studies with the Franciscans in Avignon , where he established close contact with the Papal Palace . On July 5, 1372 Wildenstein was by Pope Gregory XI. Bishop of Kruja in today's Albania . Wildenstein later became friends with Emperor Karl IV and Duke Leopold III. from Austria . When Karl died, Wildenstein gave the funeral sermon in December 1378.

Duke Leopold of Austria helped Wildenstein to the bishopric of Trieste , which in 1382 had placed itself under the protection of the Habsburgs. In 1383 Wildenstein was finally confirmed in his office by the Pope. One of his official acts on November 27, 1385 was the consecration of the Trieste Cathedral, which was completed after many years of construction . Presumably due to disagreements between Wildenstein and the local clergy, who demanded a strict separation between state and church, Wildenstein was transferred to the Diocese of Pedena in today's Croatia in 1396 .
