Ordoño IV (León)
Ordoño IV. The Evil (* 926 in Córdoba ; † 962 ) was the son of King Alfonso IV of León and nephew of Ramiro II of León . He was King of Léon from 958 to 960. He interrupted the rule of Sancho I of León for two years.
Ordoño won the throne with the help of the Count of Castile Fernán González , whose daughter he married, and the support of the Castilian and Galician nobility. When he ascended the throne in 958, he married Urraca, the daughter of the Count of Castile. The marriage remained childless. However, he was driven from the throne as early as 960 by an intervention by the Kingdom of Navarre .
After losing his throne, he fled to Asturias and then to Burgos . There he left his wife and thus lost the support of the Castilian court. He was forced to turn to the Caliph of Cordoba, who did not come to his aid until his death.
