The Orenburg Nature Reserve ( Russian Оренбургский заповедник ; Orenburgskij Zapovednik ) is a Russian nature reserve that is located in the southeast of the European part of Russia and covers a total area of ​​216 square kilometers. On this relatively small area there are numerous different steppe habitats, ranging from tree-lined parklands and rivers to semi-desert areas and hills. The park's fauna includes 48 species of mammals and 200 species of birds. Particularly noticeable are lynxes, wolves and red foxes, elk, deer and wild boar, beavers, steppe marmots , ground squirrels and hares, steppe eagles, imperial eagles, highland buzzards , young cranes and giant bustards. The saiga antelopes that once regularly migrated to this area have not been seen there since 1994.
