Chidi Imoh (born August 27, 1963 ) is a former Nigerian athlete and sprinter . In the mid-1980s, he was the dominant African runner on the 100-meter course.

Life

At a height of 1.88 m, he had a competition weight of 77 kg. He celebrated his first successes at the 1983 Summer Universiade in Edmonton , Canada , when he won the 100-meter run at the age of nineteen . He was able to repeat this success two years later in Kobe and is still the only sprinter over this distance who was able to repeat his victory at a Universiade.

Imoh, who meanwhile started for the University of Missouri , was twice African champion and won the 1987 African Games in Nairobi . One of his career highlights was reaching third place and thus a bronze medal in the 60-meter run in 1991 at the World Indoor Championships in Seville . In the following year, he secured his country the silver medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona . In 1994 Imoh was banned for four years for doping .

After completing his sports career, Imoh became a nurse in California.
