Organization Chancellor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The organization Kanzler , or Orka for short , was an association of various military associations of the political right of Austria and Bavaria, founded in May 1920 and named after its head, the geometer and deputy head of the Bavarian Resident Welfare Service, Rudolf Kanzler (1873-1956) . The aim of the Orka was to financially and logistically support the home guard groups in the Austrian federal states, which had mostly constituted themselves as “self-protection associations”, and to arm them with corresponding organizations in Bavaria to form an “Alpine Federation”. The activities of the organization, which exerted a considerable influence on the Austrian Heimwehr until 1921, were therefore not only clearly directed against the Austrian First Republic , which was largely supported by the Social Democrats , but were also intended to serve the long-term goal of “ connecting ” Austria to the German Reich.
