Defense Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A military association is a uniformed association, organized in a military-like manner, of voluntary members who are not or only temporarily barracked, paid and officially armed and who perform their service on evenings or weekends. Historically, however, some military organizations had secret weapons. Usually a military association also has a political objective.

In the German-speaking area, many military associations were founded , especially in the interwar period . For example, in Germany the Reichsbanner , the Young German Order , the Stahlhelm or the Red Front Fighters Association , and in Austria the Heimwehr associations and the Republican Protection Association .
