Organization for the cause of women

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Organization for the Women's Cause (OFRA) was the most important organization of the women's liberation movement , based in Zurich . It was founded on March 13, 1977 following the Zurich Women's Week. The initiators were women from the progressive organizations in Switzerland .

In contrast to the autonomous women's groups of the women's liberation movement, the progressive women wanted to combine feminism with socialism . They used the existing political instruments and were active nationwide. The first official act after the establishment was the launch of the maternity protection initiative .

The association was dissolved at the end of 1997 and the association's material was taken over by the social archive.
